80's song titles and artists

I have to put this in my blog as I am really proud of myself!
Since I have XM in my car, I have started paying attention to song titles and artists. Now- historically, I am not the best at this category.
We typically partake in the local bar sponsored trivia night which consists of 5 rounds; 3 rounds of 2 songs( name artist and song title) and 10 questions and 2 rounds of 12 photos (i.d. the celeb/person). If you win a round- you get a free round of drinks for your team and if you win 1st or 2nd place over all you get a $25 gift certificate. Most times we can eek out a free round of drinks but lately we had been winning!!! Yeah team. Well, the last few weeks only three players (out of 10) have shown up. Aaron, me and Tony (a 23 yr old). Needless to say, we haven't been doing so great. But this week, the d.j. forgot his photos for the photo round so instead, he played a cd of 80's hits - name the song and artist for 12 songs. I ended up getting 8 1/2 correct and won my team a free round of drinks! Man was it exciting!!!! Although, I kept thinking how Breard would kick my @ss in this, and how fun this would have been in college!!!! I am sure this disc is available somewhere, possibly Jeny has it! Songs from Asia, Toto, Men at Work, Michael Jackson, The Police! Priceless!!!

Creepy Cop Story

Ok. So I have been in a funk lately and was running a wee bit late yesterday for this surgery case at Northlake (30 minutes from my house in the middle of Gary). Not sure why, I got up on time but was late leaving and then I was out of gas. So on my way to the hospital - I took a detour and got gas. After the pit stop, it was easier to take a different hwy instead of the freeway. I have traveled this road several times and it takes you thru the north part of Gary but puts you right at the hospital. Well- there was this cop driving along side of me on the road. I noticed him - particularly since he was driving weird, hurrying up to get in front of me then slowing down to get behind me, then pulling up next to me at lights, etc. I didn't think much of it until he was ahead of me and then did some ghetto driving to pull right up on my ass behind me. By now, I am almost to the hospital. He then turns on his lights!! I thought that couldn't possibly be for me but pulled onto a side street to let him pass and he pulls up behind me. He asked for my license and registration and tells me my plate is expired. As he is standing there all cocky- he wanted a good reason to NOt impound my car immediately! Impound my car...What??? ARe you crazy!
So I said that I was late for a surgery over at the hospital and needed my car. He said " Oh, you are a doctor?" "yes" "Well- that is a physical I would look forward to having weekly" (My mouth was falling open... he did not just say that!) To which I reply- Oh no- not that kind of doctor. I am a foot doctor.
"Not for one day a week your not." (Yikes- you are really scaring me now, in the middle of Gary all by myself with this law enforcement dude) He actually told me he would look forward to turning his head and coughing!!!!
Then he handed my license back and let me go. I proceed to the next light and he motions for me to roll down my window. I did and he says he will check on me tomorrow to make sure my license plate is renewed. Then he followed me to the hospital! Crazy!
I know you are all thinking he pulled me over for speeding but apparently I'm just hot! Or a psycho magnet? Not sure which one!!!!!

Incidently- the girl that was having surgery was 17 years old. She broke her ankle jumping out of a three story window. Apparently, she got caught "doing it" with her girlfriend and thought it best to escape by jumping out her window!!! She totally messed up her ankle and will be regretting that decision in 5 years! Worst ankle I have seen on such a young person!!!!

Ups and Downs

I had a great weekend - for the most part. It was a really difficult week due to some discord with my partner in the business; but to top it off, one of my referring primary care doctors blew his lid and went off on me Friday morning when I asked him to admit his patient to the hospital. Long story short, I admitted the patient thru another G.P. and this guy found out and was even more pissed! But the patient is doing a lot better - and I guess that is what it is all about!

Friday night we went over to the nativity fest, which is a HUGE party thrown by a catholic church. It was fun, lots of people I knew. They also had this bungee/trampoline game there. It looked like fun! You get to jump on the trampoline and the bungee cords are attached around your waist - so it vaults you high in the air. I was a little scared to try it since all the other participants were children and I weigh three times those little kids, but I got up and did it! It was great! So much fun... I was even doing flips!

Then on Saturday- we went to the Gary Airshow. It was a great weather day and we sat out on the beach with some friends just drinking, swimming, and watching the planes. The Stealth Bomber was the coolest! The pilot flew over us three times. One from left to right, one from right to left and then he came straight for us and went right over our heads! How scary would that be in a war situation! By the time you hear him- game over..... hence the stealth part in the plane's name.

Yesterday- I went to church with my mom. Then we all went over to the new Bass Pro Shop store. The place is HUGE! THey have everything you could possibly need except a pedometer (which is what we went there for) and the funny thing is my mom picked one up in the Brass Pro shop in branson, MO last month and wanted another! So I guess the stores do not all carry the same things. Apparently, people in Branson walk, people in Portage do not! It took three salespeople to find one that actually knew what a pedometer was.... youth these days!
We picked up some sweet corn for dinner, yummy! and then headed over to Greg and Mary's for desert. Spent some time with Kaylen, my niece, who I have not seen for 6 months. we had a nice visit! Hopefully things are back on track there.

Whew! I think I had a Breard weekend! Chock full of activities! I rather enjoyed it too!

Thanks Friends!

Great Ideas! Thanks so much! The baby shower is for a first-time mom (my cousin) and she is having a boy due in late August. They also live in Minneapolis! I thought about making a blanket for her but just don't seem to have the time and really, in all honesty, haven't done any sewing lately.
I am looking forward to the weekend. Tonight is the Portage Catholic church's fundraiser--- I am not catholic but those catholics sure know how to throw a party!!!
And then tomorrow is the Gary Air Show-- I am going to go over to my friends house and crash their party :)

More on my midweek crisis next week.
Oh, and I almost forgot, I am heading over to my brother Greg and sister-in-law Mary's house on Sunday to deliver the 1 year-old's gift --- wish me luck!!!

Your Input Needed

Okay guys! I need advice! I have a baby shower coming up and the registry is full! What is a well needed but not always thought of before the baby comes gift?
And- I have a one year old's birthday party to go to..... what do one year olds like to do?

I have had a troubling week at work. Yesterday was especially bad, the kind where now I am questioning everything! Don't even want to talk about it until I figure some things out.

Much Ado About Nothing

What is new?!?! What is new!?! Not too much happening but have been very busy. How does that work out? Managed to get out on the boat a few more times. A few have asked about it.... we bought it last year when we rented the lake house for the week. Picked it up for a reasonable price. It is a 14' Bombadier Sea Doo speed boat. The thing really flies but like all Sea Doos - are susceptible to damage to the motor/parts. Not sure why that is but it is! Anyway- the boat goes fast and is great for pulling a tube but not so great for waterskiing and can only hold 4 people. Next time , I would suggest a skiing boat. They are also reasonable and fast.

Our weather is HOT and HUMID! I planted three flats of flowers and have not been able to keep up with watering them! And forget the lawn... might have to put a pool in instead! Now that is a great idea!

Congratulations to my friend Cari on her wedding! Can't wait to see you at the end of the month!

The Weekend

We had a great weather weekend and I thought it would be nice to take our boat out. Last year we rented a cabin on the lake for a week and bought a 14' speed boat so we could go tubing and waterskiing. Well- we soon found out our boat needed a little work! After vacation last year- the boat got a tune up and new seats! Actually- the seats just got done on Wednesday so I wanted to try the boat out (so did Aaron) and see what our new and improved speed boat could do! We headed out to a local lake on Saturday and had a GREAT time tubing and attempting to waterski! The boat was flying! We just got carried away with how fast the boat could go - we ended up shredding the fabric liner of our tube! I am sure others on the lake were laughing at us but we really had a great time! I woke up today (2 days later) and am as stiff as a board! Damm- getting older sucks! Didn't think I was THAT out of shape! Yesterday wasn't so bad but today....SORE!!! Oh well- off to work I go!
